What it is
Wherezit is an e-paper photo display for the home. It shows one photo at a time, sent from an iPhone app, and it writes down what you tell it by voice so anyone at home can ask for it later.
Press and hold the button, say where something is, and let go. Press and hold again to ask, and Wherezit replies out loud from what the household told it.
The specifics
- Display: 4-inch six-color e-paper (E Ink Spectra 6), 400 × 600. No backlight.
- Input: one press-and-hold button, with a speaker and a microphone. It listens only while the button is held down.
- Memory: one memory for the home, tied to the device — not to whoever is speaking.
- Photos: sent from the iPhone app, which previews exactly how a photo will look. The screen takes about 16 seconds to change.
- Connectivity: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (802.11 b/g/n). Bluetooth LE for setup from the iPhone app. Wi-Fi is required to use all features.
- Languages: Chinese and English only — replies follow the language you speak.
- App: iPhone, iOS 17.0 or later. No Android version.
Where the project stands
Device production is complete. The iPhone app is built, and its App Store listing is in progress. The next step is a Kickstarter campaign.

What it is not
Wherezit is not a medical device, emergency system, or substitute for critical reminders.
No location, no face recognition, no voiceprints.
